- curling tong
- sectioning clips
- hair bands
- hair pins
- heat protection spray
- hair spray
- pin tail comb
Key points of an early Victorian Hairtsyle:
- sleek
- middle parting
- simple
- bun at the back
- detailing at the side of face
- plaits going from the side to the bun at the back
- creating bun using plaiting
- a little bit later they also had chin long tight curls on the sides
· -> To do middle parting: draw up a line (with pin tail comb )from the nose up, use the front bit of the comb and then go straight, check in mirror if middle parting is accurate, the do 2 sections for the curls/plaits in the front, from middle parting you go down at ear area, do around 3 ringlet curls on each side, or do a plait on each side
· -> Curl the ringlets into the face-> make sections, when rolling in the hair tong should point to the ceiling, I would start with the last section so the first ones don’t get on the way, no fishhook at the end, use pin tail comb to get the endings in neatly
· -> For (very) early Victorian : if you do the plait: take your section slightly forward, do a normal plait and then loop it around to the bun, in cooperate it in the bun if the hair is long enough->didn’t work with our doll’s heads
· -> At the back of the head do a middle high bun, comb hair well before, you can do a ponytail first and then plait it or twist it and then turn it into a bun
First i did the curls on the side version
You can see the first curl on the left side was a bit off and messy
Afterwards I changed the curls into the plait which was on each side and was pinned into the bun at the back.
Because I didn't get the plaits into the bun properly I decided to do the plait version for the homework. Also the bun should look neater.
