Key points of early Victorian hair:

~centre parting
~flat
~smoothly back to a knot or bun( crown height but usually lower)
~ for early 1830's: plait on each side in a loop (down the cheeks and under ear) to the back to connect with bun, but the front sections of hair didn't necessarily needed t be plaited.
~braids around the bun
~accessories: feathers, flowers, lace
~later the front plaits turned into tight curls or ringlets on the sides, curls were still quite in the face
